HTA said it is looking for “innovative, community-driven management projects.” Hot spot areas are defined as those that attract visitors due to their popularity, which may result in overcrowding, congestion, degradation of resources, safety hazards and negative experiences for both residents and visitors.
East Maui hot spots include Nailiilihaele Stream, also known as Bamboo Forest; Waikamoi Falls; Kaihalulu, also known as Red Sand Beach; Waioka, also known as Venus Pools; and Honolewa, also known as South Wailua Falls.
The deadline for applicants to submit proposals to MVCB is 4:30 p.m. May 5. Applicants are encouraged to review and download the request for proposals at hvcb.org/east-maui-tourism-management-rfp.
