Shaka Guide, a Hawai‘i-based tour company and app, opened its virtual doors in 2016 with the goal to connect people with places through storytelling. In that time, it has launched 21 self-guided audio tours across the islands – INCLUDING EAST MAUI – that give travelers the benefits of a guided tour with the freedom to explore responsibly and on their terms.
Travelers are provided turn-by-turn directions, safety information, travel tips, stories, and music that plays automatically as they walk or drive.
The app is free to download and works entirely offline, with no need for Wi-Fi or data. Each tour offers hours of storytelling triggered by GPS, allowing travelers to explore at their own pace while learning about the history and legends of each location.
