DESCRIPTION:Announcing Hāna Ag Roadshow Webinar\, August 8\, 2020 11:00 AM\n \n  \n\nA FREE agricultural resource webinar\, called the Hāna Ag Roadshow\, is happening on Saturday\, August 8 at 11am. The goal of this webinar is to facilitate and support the expansion of our local food resource base in East Maui\, as a model and means of connecting production in our community out to the greater market arenas of Maui\, the State of Hawai‘i and the world across the Pacific. \nThis webinar is for East Maui farmers and food entrepreneurs and the economic and agricultural organizations that are working to innovate new avenues of operation for local food production.\nThis program is being organized in support of East Maui food entrepreneurs through a combined effort between the University of Hawai‘i Maui College (UHMC) – Maui Food Innovation Center (MFIC)\, UH Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR)\, Maui Office of Economic Development (OED)\, Maui Department of Health\, Hana Business Council members\, Hana Farmers Union United (HFUU) – Hana Chapter members\, Hana Farmers Market\, Ma Ka Hana Ka ‘Ike\, Hana School\, UHMC Hana Education Center\, and the Hana County Council Office. If you would like to attend this webinar please send an email with Hāna Ag Roadshow Webinar in the subject to: hbc@hanabusinesscouncil.com and a link to register will be returned to you. \n \nThe webinar will include a welcome by UHMC Chancellor Lui Hokoana & East Maui representatives\, and provide an overview of the Maui Food Innovation Center and new Maui College food production facility. We will introduce the Hāna Ag Roadshow team and share the innovative product submissions from the related Hāna Food Launch Tasting Event to the Hāna community\, followed by a moderated Q&A session. \nUHMC Chancellor Lui Hokoana \nThe Hāna Roadshow team of educators and agricultural resource experts from these organizations will be giving FREE assessments for East Maui food entrepreneurs in advance of the webinar\, providing a Farm/Product report for up to 10 applicants\, and extend an invitation to a Hāna Food Launch Tasting Event. DESCRIPTION:Aloha HBC Board and Members! \n\nThe HBC Executive Team decided that we should postpone our annual HBC member meeting / luncheon into August due to the large number of kupuna who generally would attend and the uncertainty of COVID-19 guidelines around large gatherings. We will be discussing our options at the board meeting coming up on Monday\, July 13 at 4:30pm. This is a ZOOM web conference meeting. All members are welcome to participate\, and we welcome community participation! \nPlease review the draft agenda items below which have come to my attention for our Board meeting\, which also include ideas for the Annual Membership Meeting. \n\nWe are considering extending HBC memberships for FREE for one year for 96713 businesses to all who attend our annual meeting this year\,\nas well as providing the option to attend the luncheon at no charge.\nWe will have the option to join the meeting via Zoom.\n(Note: members are permitted to still pay their dues if they are able\, and there will be a suggested donation as per our usual costs for the luncheon to be hosted at Hōlani Hāna again this year. Also\, it will be RSVP with 2 options to choose from for a meal selection which will be preprepared with mindfulness to COVID-19 guidelines.)\nIf you are interested in joining the board we will be having elections at the annual event. We have 2 currently open seats\, 3 expiring terms\, and 1 interim board member; and will need to determine if those with expiring terms want to continue to serve on the board.
