Commercial drop-offs will not be accepted. \nItems accepted include appliances\, refrigerators\, freezers\, air conditioning units\, water coolers\, washers\, dryers\, stoves\, dishwashers\, water heaters\, automobile batteries\, tires\, propane tanks (with or without valves) and scrap metals. Small machines must be fully drained of all liquids. Electronics will not be collected at this event. \nFor more information about recycling events\, call the County Abandoned Vehicles and Metals Office at (808) 270-6102. For more information about metals recycling\, call Hammerhead Metals at (808) 280-8844. For information on electronics and e-waste recycling\, call E-Cycling Maui at (808) 280-6460.

Suggestions from the public help us prioritize what is best for our community\, and understand how to better serve our residents. This first-come\, first-served event assists East Maui residents in hauling and recycling special waste items. \nEast Maui residents must bring their items to the landfill during event hours. Capacity for hauling out of Hana for this event is limited\, with an equal amount of bin space available on both days. The event ends at 2:30 pm Saturday\, or when the bins are full. Staff will help residents remove items from their vehicles. \nItems accepted include large appliances\, up to five auto tires (per household\, per event)\, auto batteries\, propane tanks and scrap metals. DESCRIPTION:PRESS RELEASE \nFor Immediate Release \nAugust 26\, 2022 \n  \nHana Metals Recycling Event set for Sept. 23-24\, 2022 \nThe Hana Metals Recycling Event is set for 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 23-24 at the Hana Landfill on Waikoloa Road\, the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management announced. This first-come\, first-served event assists East Maui residents in hauling and recycling special waste items. \nEast Maui residents must bring their items to the landfill during event hours. Capacity for hauling out of Hana for this event is limited\, with an equal amount of bin space available on both days. The event ends at 2:30 pm Saturday\, or when the bins are full. Staff will help residents remove items from their vehicles. \nItems accepted include large appliances\, up to five auto tires (per household\, per event)\, auto batteries\, propane tanks and scrap metals.
