Early detection is an important way to protect our community.” \nResidents do not need to have insurance or meet any criteria to get tested for free. Participants must wear a face mask\, and they are urged to come at their scheduled time. Results will be reported on the same day as testing. Minit Medical is administering the program sponsored by the County of Maui. \nWe are attempting to schedule appointment times for testing (to reduce wait time\, avoid road congestion\, and social crowding). All participants must pre-register by visiting www.minitmed.com/pre-register-maui-covid-19. This website also has more information and frequently asked questions about testing. \nIf unable to complete the registration on line\, you may email covid@minitmed.com providing name\, DOB\, and phone number and a preferred approximate appointment time; you will receive an appt.  time by return email. When going to the drive thru you will need to complete a paper registration. \nIf you have any problem pre-registering\, please call (808) 667-6161 ext: 7\, for help and more information. \nNOTE: The free testing cannot be used for the State’s Pre-Travel Testing Program. \nWho Should be Tested? \n\nIn April’s community drive thru we had more than 450 persons tested for COVID. Hana residents were reassured when no tests were reported as positive. Since then Maui has reported a low number of test positives with the majority associated with group outbreaks. No cases associated with local transmission have occurred in  East Maui since April. Our community success is the result of geography (restricted access) and prevention strategies (limited predominantly to mask wearing in public places). Our risk is largely East Maui residents returning from travel: highest from mainland USA and Oahu\, and less but still present\, locations elsewhere in Hawaii including other areas of Maui island\, and Hawaii Island. COVID testing is used to diagnose a clinical case in a medical setting (someone sick and being seen by health care provider)\, when screening someone who has been a close contact of a known case\, and in community screening— most importantly in areas where large outbreaks are occurring (high prevalence areas).\n\n\nPersons at high priority for community screening in Hana include:\n\n1) recent returning travelers who have visited mainland USA\, Oahu\, Hawaii Island\n2) persons who frequently travel to central Maui\n3) persons who routinely have not employed social distancing and face masking\n4) persons who have symptoms: dry cough\, fatigue\, fever\, generalized  muscular pains\, but these individuals\, and their families\, are  better served by promptly phoning to make making medical appointments in Hana and having a full clinical assessment\n\n\nPersons not at significant risk\, and for whom testing is unlikely to be positive / of benefit\n\n1) infrequent travel outside of East Maui\n2) persons practicing social distancing and wearing face masks in public\n3) non symptomatic persons\, including persons older than 50 URL:https://hanamaui.com/event/hana-free-community-covid-19-testing/ LOCATION:Hana Ball Park\, 5091 Uakea Rd\, Hana\, HI\, 96713\, United States CATEGORIES:Health END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Pacific/Honolulu:20201119T183000 DTEND;TZID=Pacific/Honolulu:20201119T200000 DTSTAMP:20240528T022150 CREATED:20201119T200658Z LAST-MODIFIED:20201119T200658Z UID:10000904-1605810600-1605816000@hanamaui.com SUMMARY:Community Meeting in response to positive COVID-19 case in Hāna DESCRIPTION:Aloha kākou\, \nIn response to the positive COVID-19 case that has been reported in Hāna\, Sen.
